Zest was named in a series of announcements at The London EV Show last week, as it works in partnership with public sector organisations across the capital to accelerate the provision of convenient long-term EV infrastructure. London already leads the UK in EV charging, but it also has the highest uptake of EVs and is expected to need at least 40,000 charge points by 2030.
In the conference keynote speech Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport, announced that Transport for London has awarded Zest two contracts for a further 51 locations for rapid charge points on the TfL road network. This follows an initial contract award for 24 locations made in May. [more]
Mete Coban, Hackney Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, also presented a keynote at the London EV Show. His key message was that Hackney's ambitious EV strategy is for everyone, with 3,000 charge points in just seven square miles, an equitable distribution across the borough and support for car clubs and resident tariffs. On the eve of the show, Brent Council announced that it has partnered with Zest and Uber to open the first of 160 new on-street EV charging bays to be installed across 80 locations. These on-street charging points will improve access for those without private driveways or access to a charge point at home. [more]
