Today Zest announced the company's continued action towards reaching net zero carbon emissions, as it became the latest signatory of The Climate Pledge.
As an organisation established to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, Zest’s core mission is to support the UK’s net zero ambitions. Carrying out regular and transparent emissions reporting and implementing carbon reduction strategies have been priorities since Zest’s launch in 2021. The company’s recent certification as a B Corporation (B Corp) demonstrates its existing efforts to socially and environmentally responsible practices and its commitment to goals beyond shareholder profit. Now, by joining The Climate Pledge, Zest reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, committing to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
Co-founded in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism, The Climate Pledge strives to promote responsible climate action across industries. With over 400 signatories across the world, The Climate Pledge represents a community with shared resources and best practices, collaborating to tackle the climate crisis.
By signing The Climate Pledge, Zest is committing to
Zest is among the first EV charge point infrastructure companies to join The Climate Pledge, building on its existing sustainability commitments. In June 2022, Zest became certified as a carbon neutral company, offsetting business emissions and contributing to reforestation and hydropower projects. The company also gained the Carbon Literate Organisation Bronze Award, committing to provide carbon literacy training to further employees’ understanding of the carbon impact of everyday business decisions.
Robin Heap, Zest CEO, said: “At Zest, we recognise the urgency of the climate emergency, and are committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040. We are proud to sign The Climate Pledge and join a community of organisations working transparently and collaboratively to evolve business practices and prioritise the planet.”
