As part of its mission to make the shift to using electric vehicles a realistic choice for every household, Zest has opened an EV charging facility in Oscott. These new charging points provide people with easy access to convenient EV charging close to their homes and local shops.
Adding to Zest’s growing network in the West Midlands, the new rapid charging spaces are next to independent shops on the junction of the Aldridge and Birdbrook roads. The investment in Oscott has been welcomed by residents, local businesses and community leaders. It’s a progressive step on the journey to reduce the reliance on petrol and diesel vehicles, helping to improve local air quality and fight climate change.
Zest is developing EV charging across the UK in areas that lack sufficient EV infrastructure - making it easier for drivers without chargers to conveniently recharge their vehicles close to home, or on-the-go.
Councillor Darius Sandhu, said:
“This is an important development for Oscott as we work to build a cleaner, greener Birmingham. Access to reliable EV infrastructure is key to encouraging more residents to make the switch to electric vehicles. Zest’s community charger provides the necessary infrastructure needed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the transition to sustainable transport.”
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:
“Most of us will soon be driving EVs and the UK needs more public charging now, especially close to where people live. Zest local charging, like this facility in Oscott, provide new community assets that breathe new life into communities across the country.”
