Zest is sponsoring the Best Transport Decarbonisation Project category at the MJ awards. The awards recognise outstanding achievement in local government. The MJ is the UK’s leading weekly magazine for council chief executives and their teams of decision-makers in local authorities and allied sectors.
Local authorities are well placed to take action to reduce transport-related carbon emissions. Over 300 councils have declared a climate emergency and the National Audit Office found that almost two thirds of councils in England are aiming to be carbon neutral 20 years before the national target.
Through strategies and projects focussed on decarbonisation, local authorities have the ability to design and deliver a vision for local infrastructure that will enable the switch to low carbon journeys.
“Zest is supporting local authorities across the country by providing long-term EV charging infrastructure, but we have always recognised that this is just one element of a transport decarbonisation strategy,” said Paul Ford, Chief Development Officer at Zest. “We’re looking forward to showcasing the inspiring work of local authorities at the MJ Awards.”
